LECTURES
Before we started with this exercise, we were taught about the basics of photoshop, we learn how to utilize certain tools such as the pen tool to remove background of images and only have the desired object/element present. After that, we were task on making our own digital collage using specific images/elements, this means that we need to be creative in making our designs so that it's not repetitive.
TUTORIAL
1. Download all of the images here to your computer
2. Follow this tutorial demo as reference to create your digital collage
3. Create 3 different composition digital collages from the images that you've downloaded
4. Create A4 canvas size (vertical) on photoshop and start to do the compositions
5. Take 3 photo of your digital collage compositions and insert it on the section below
6. Submit this file on google classroom
PRACTICAL
1st Composition
For the very first step, i picked a orange grunge texture and cropped out 2 fish images and placed them, after that, i cropped out an image of a building and placed it all over the sides. Next i pick a liquid texture and some normal texture and then cut them out in the shape of the fishes, after that i pick the images full of people on the subway, cut them out and then placed near the buildings. As a finishing touch, i added some rule of thirds to add more elements.
For the 1st composition i decided to put 3 buildings around the canvas, accompanied with bridges full of people to create a trippy like effect. I then put 2 different fishes as the main attraction and put some abstract element around them to make them less flat, and for the background i use a texture grunge that is orange in color, after that i added a bunch of "the rule of thirds" line shape to make a rectangle background look.
There is not that many significant changes for the 2nd composition, i added some leaf elements to the collage so that it has some greenery, i removed the bridges full of people and also "the rule of thirds" rectangle shape from the background so that its not that noisy.
3rd Composition
For the last composition, I changed the grunge background to the grayish texture background to give it a more vague look, I added more buildings, changed the positioning as well and also tweak the leaf a little because the bottom leaf was too big.
REFLECTION
From this exercise i manage to learn the basics of photoshop, it is a very versatile tool and can be used for many different things. There was a lot of shortcuts that we have to remember and because of that it is quite overwhelming but it is still a very intriguing process.
