INSTRUCTIONS

TASK

References

After finishing the second task, I was instructed to create a splash art for my character. It was really straightforward and I get to have creative freedom in creating the environment for the splash art. Since my character is tied to the God of War franchise, I decided that it was best that I look into the environment art there to be used as references and so that is what I did. I mainly chose the natural and rugged looking area because I feel like it's the best pick for my character and so I compiled them into one.

Sketches

After that I started creating the sketches to see what kind off visual direction is acceptable and so I came with three ideas. After that I asked for Mr. Fitri's feedback and realized that the character should be placed in a rectangle box, and it is best for it to have a combination of different elements instead of following the setting from the franchise faithfully. Because of this I made a lot of revisions and created a fourth sketch.

Chosen Background & Final Sketch

I chose this look for my revised sketch and quickly got into work in creating the combinations of elements.

For the chosen elements, I went with the giant ribcage, trees, the world serpent in the back and some rock as well as other vegetations.

Coloring

The coloring process is actually quite straightforward and I used a wetbrush in photoshop because I wanted to go for a water paint look. I had issues with the colors combining because of the wetbrush properties and so I needed to combine the layers before moving on to the next step. For the finishing touches I added in some lights coming in, shading on the character as well some warm looking reflections to tie it in.

FEEDBACK

Week 9 : I will guide you next week for the ideas because the sketches doesn't really look like a splash art.

Week 10 : Okay the idea is much more better now and you can continue to refine it.

Week 11 : Already good but you can enhance this by adding some warm lighting on the character as well as figuring out the other elements so the character doesn't blend with the environment

REFLECTION

This task is very easy compared to the others because the task is very straightforward. When I started, I already had in mine on what i wanted to make and the outcome is what I actually expected so I am quite happy with it. Because this task is so simple, it actually gave me a lot of time in finishing the other modules which are mainly vehicle design because that module is very demanding compared to the others one and so I do feel lucky in someway.
