TASK

Poses Exploration

After finishing the first task, I moved on to the second one, and I started the process by creating the poses for my character. Most of these were not that dynamic and so started refining them and got some feedback from Mr. Fitri to take reference from characters such as hulk. In the end I created the axe swinging pose, boulder throwing pose and spear throwing pose.

Facial Expression Exploration

I made facial expressions next and manage to make 10 relatively different expressions. This part was quite challenging for me as my character is themed around the God of War Norse arc and inside that game, most of the character don't really make "crazy" facial expressions. Because of that, the exploration is very awkward for me and I had to somewhat force some of the expressions.

Weapon/Prop Creation

For the weapon creation process, I didn't have any issues with it because I accidently made it during week 3 for the first task because I thought the submission was there. I decided to make 5 weapons/props to give it a variety and for the final chosen prop/weapon, I decided to go with the axe.

I then proceeded to the weapon turnaround and gave it some color as well.

Pose Refinement

I went back and chose 3 poses that will be refined. This part was quite tedious because my character is quite detailed and so I had to pay attention of the little things so that it looks consistent.

Color Palette Exploration

I gave colors to my character and started exploring on which color combination works best. This part is quite fun as I get to see the possible colors that will fit my character. I made 8 color variations in the end so that I have options.

Colored Pose

After the color exploration I then proceeded to the part where I combine my chosen pose and my chosen color combination. I tried to give it a moderate amount of lighting so that the outcome looks sharper.

Character Alternative Outfit

References

Before creating the alternative outfit, I tried to find some references first and then compiled them.

Alternative Outfit Variants

I started creating the alternative outfits and i was able to come up with several different looks. I made a winter outfit variant, farmer variant, shaman variant, wizard variant. I went with the wizard variant because Mr. Fitri really likes the direction. I tried to keep their original visual style because I don't want them to look like misfit.

Alternative Turnaround

After that, I made the character variant turnaround.

I also made a prop turnaround for the wizard variant so that it looks more inline. For the prop i chose a simple wooden staff because it is very distinct.

Color Palette Exploration

I also made some color variations for the alternative outfit as well. I tried a handful of color combinations to see which one is best.

Colored Variant Turnaround

After choosing the colors, I made the colored turnaround for it and the process is very straightforward.

Character Breakdown

For the final part, I made the breakdown for the alternative character outfit. It was divided into the coat, necklace, leather cover, rope belt, pants, and the inner clothe.

FEEDBACK

Week 5 :-

Week 6 : The poses need to be dynamic, you can find references from hulk and create more facial expressions.

Week 7 : You can refine the shaman/magic teacher look into more of a wizard from harry potter. You can also make a staff for the alternative character.

Week 8 :-

REFLECTION

This task was tedious already right from the start because it was more of a quantity type of task where we need to make iterations. It forced me to be really fast at creating 2D concepts because if i didn't follow through then I would be drowning because there are also other assignments. In the end it did teach me quite a lot and forced me to be really efficient so that I can get these things done.
