INSTRUCTIONS
You are to create a suitable vehicle and props design for the world that you have proposed across for character design and anatomy (optional) or you can have it separate.. Your vehicle and props should communicate its functionality that reflect the world proposed. Note that for vehicle (man-made mechanical ), you are to choose 1 minimum from any of these types (land, air, water), whilst props are the components suitable to your vehicle where you will be continuously developing till your Final Project. Here you will be showcasing your ideation process as listed below:
- Moodboard and style guide
- Thumbnail Sketches ( 20 drawing in 2 sheets)
- Silhouettes (10 pieces in 1 sheet)
- Rough Value painting (5 chosen from the silhouettes) - 1 sheet
- Design breakdowns - min 1 sheet
Submission:
Pdf collections of all the listed items. Each items should be in 1920 x 1080 pixels. Please keep your raw files as a proof. Progressions to be showcased in your e-portfolio at the end of your assignment.
NOTE: You are allowed to use AI generated images only for references purpose and to be cited. This can be included within your mood board creation and ideation process. Progress on each developments should be recorded and raw files are to be kept as proof of original work. Any misuse of AI generated images as final submission will not be accepted and will be considered plagiarism.

TASK
For the first task, we were instructed to explore ideas on what we want to create. Mr. Kannan advised us that the first week, we can just draw anything and so I just drew on what's on my mind. I drew these on sketching books because I don't feel like using digital drawing software because I'm still a noob at it.
Next, I decided to stick with an "animal" type of mount because I'm really interested in it and I drew 3 types of animal mounts which are attack type, defense type, and transportation type. I made the attack type a small "lightweight" looking mammal, the defense type as a boar type of mount and the big bird as a transportation mount.
To explore more ideas and so that we have more options, Mr. Kannan instructed me to create 10 silhouettes for each different types of vehicle which is air, water and land. One goal of mine in this exercise is to focus on the main shapes and really think about how the person will mount it because I feel like that issue can be solved later on.

After that, I continued my exploration for my mount by exhausting all of the ideas I have. My goal is to create a mount that can fit in the world of God of War (Norse saga) and so I really need to think about the animal that I am gonna be designing. This became a major challenge because of how animals appeared in the God of War (Norse saga) game which are very grounded but have their own distinct look which made it cool to look at.
My main goal is to create a land attack mount that has a distinct horn/slashers on the head. I needed to make a choice on either making it mammal like animal (like a lion, tiger, or panther) or like a completely fictitious animal with a head that has a hard exoskeleton.
Figure 2.8 Sketches 5
I was able to make a decision on how the mount will look like and so I was able to break it down. The animal was designed from a couple of different animals combined together. I made the body have the composition of a lion but is muscular like a tiger, has a rough messy hair, head that looks like a wolf but the beak of an eagle or toucan as well as deciding that it will have horns on the sides sticking out from the cheek. The distinct look is the beak because one of the abilities is that it can scream really loud to either warn allies because the creature is from the realm of Vanaheim which is a dense jungle or it can also be used to intimidate enemies. Another design choice is the creature only having hair on the top part to make it look unique because I'm planning to add stripes to it

I also created an action pose as well for it and the proper sideview for it so that I can properly show Mr. Kannan on how the creature appeared. Mr. Kannan was able to give me feedback regarding the appearance and one of the most glaring issues is the paws being too small, and the horns being illogical which makes it not believable because the jaw is obstructed from opening. After receiving the feedback, I made some changes for it and refine the appearance further.

I made a better design breakdown and added more explanations on how the mount works. I also created the rider for it as well as placing the rider beside it to compare the sizes. I also created a rough skull layout to show on how the horns are placed so that it doesn't block the jaw from opening as well as adding some flat colors to show on how the mount looks. After the breakdowns, I started working on the
3D because the animal concept is already okay and I just needed to concept the props and attachments next.

REFLECTION
So from the first assignment, it is already clear that this module is gonna be really difficult because Mr. Kannan has a really high standard (lol). I would have never imagine that I will be creating something like this so early (semester 3) because I needed to revised the design quite a lot of times because Mr. Kannan has a crazy eye for design and wants to see improvement but because of this though, my drawing ability grew quite rapidly which is pretty insane. Overall, this serves as an introduction on what's to come in this module and I think I'm not ready.
